Paradizo commemorates the 250th anniversary of the death of Rameau with a recreation of the music heard at his memorial service in 1764. This world premiere recording centers around the 'Rameau's Funeral' version of Jean Gilles's Messe des morts. Nearly sixty years after it was written, an arrangement - probably by Rebel and Francoeur - was prepared for Rameau's memorial. The duo "updated" the work by changing the instrumentation and incorporating musical references in Rameau's honor. The recording features the combined forces of Collegium Vocale Gent and Capriccio Stravagante, led by acclaimed conductor Skip Sempé.
