Fantasia Mexicana - Mexican Guitar Music

Guitarist Rodolfo Pérez’s new album offers a miniature musical history of Mexico, from Sinaloa songs to a seminal work of 20th c. guitar music, the Sonata Mexicana by Manuel Ponce, possibly the century’s first sonata for the instrument. The set also features unpublished works by Julio César Oliva and José Ángel Ramírez. Mr. Pérez is closely and personally linked to both Oliva and Ramírez, being the dedicatee of their works here, and for having given the premiere of the Fantasía Sinaloense.
