R. Strauss: Don Juan, Ein Heldenleben / Haitink

Bernard Haitink has had a long association on record and in concert with the music of Richard Strauss. As the LPO’s Principal Conductor from 1967–79, Bernard Haitink presided over some of the Orchestra’s most memorable and acclaimed performances. These vivid and exhilarating orchestral depictions of episodes in the lives of young men (in the case of Ein Heldenleben, that of the composer’s himself) were recorded in 1992 at Southbank Centre’s Royal Festival Hall, London (Don Juan) and 1986 at the Royal Albert Hall, London (Ein Heldenleben).
