To a score by Swedish composer Mikael Karlsson and featuring costumes by Danish fashion designer Henrik Vibskov, choreographer Alexander Ekman’s A Swan Lake takes a fresh look at Tchaikovsky’s ballet of all ballets. Created for the Norwegian National Ballet and seen here in its world premiere recording from Oslo Opera House, 2014, Mr. Ekman - “(wanting) to do something big and wild and different, something with water!” - filled the Main Stage at the Oslo Opera House with masses of water. Joining the dancers on stage were actors, a soprano, musicians and 1,000 rubber ducks. Alexander Ekman is sought-after for his unique ability to pair wit and playfulness. His multifaceted talent is reflected not only in the movement but also in his ability to bring music, light and set together in beautiful and surprising ways. He was a Zwaan-award nominee for 2010's most impressive dance production.
