O.s.t. - Smog / Piero Umiliani
Composed by: Umiliani; Falvo; Barberis; Cioffi;
Italian director Franco Rossi’s S.M.O.G. (1962) is a film about a day in the life of an Italian lawyer in Los Angeles; his encounters with compatriots and a society obsessed with the myth of success. Its score, by Piero Umiliani (1926-2001), is one of his best; a unique soundtrack possessing the talents of trumpeter Chet Baker and vocalist Helen Merrill and scored to a story of Los Angeles as it had never been shown before in an American movie.
