Opera Rara's recording of Donizetti's one-act opéra-comique, Rita (Deux hommes et une femme), is a double first – the first studio recording of the newly restored critical edition of the score (in the original French) and the label's first project with the critically acclaimed Hallé, conducted by Sir Mark Elder. Written in 1841 to a French libretto by Gustave Vaëz, Rita was never performed in Donizetti's lifetime. This one-disc set comes with a fully illustrated booklet with a complete libretto and English translation. Soloists include Katarina Karénus (Rita), Barry Banks (Pepé) and Christopher Maltman (Gasparo).
