Eight years after his first Handel recital (Ombra mai fù, etc.), Andreas Scholl now turns to the chamber cantatas of the 'caro Sassone', the youthful 'dear Saxon' whose talents dumbfounded the whole Italian peninsula as soon as he arrived there. The charmingly fresh pieces chosen for this recording were all written by a composwer aged between 20 and 25! The splendid 'Il duello amoroso' offers the countertenor a chance to duet with the young French-Canadian soprano Hélène Guilmette.
