Classical guitar virtuoso Maximo Pujol from Argentina has been revisiting the 'tango' and 'milonga' genres since the Seventies. Recorded in 2006 for Acqua Records, and licensed to Frémeaux & Associés in 2010 during a visit to Argentina by Patrick Frémeaux & Claude Colombini, this retrospective of the composer's works from 1979 to 2005 pays tribute to Buenos Aires. As a cosmopolitan seaport whose fertile soil has fostered world-music in a rich variety of forms, the contrasting colours and music of Buenos Aires originate in as many cultures - European, Amerindian,African... - as the nationalities in the population. Between popular music and classical, these pieces for two guitars recorded by world-famous guitarist Maria Isabel Siewers softly evoke the milongas and colourfulfacades of Argentina's capital.
