Two hymns to modernity. The Trio in C major of 1795 already prefigures the upheavals that Beethoven was to cause in classical musical forms, if nowhere else than in the sonata form or a highly individual concept of the variation. Eight years later the Triple Concerto succeeded in bringing about the marriage of the symphony orchestra and chamber music.
