Osvaldo Fresedo: Una Gota De Rocio
Label: Chant du Monde
Masters of Tango
Osvaldo Fresedo was determined to rid tango of some of its "orthodox" characteristics. He remains a figure of uncontested importance on the tango scene, into which he helped introduce change; he considerably enriched the tango repertoire. His style is characterized by the importance of the melody, which takes precedence over any rhythmic variations. The romantic atmosphere, which is immediately recognizable, can be attributed to the slow tempi he used, sometimes with an element of rubato.
