Here's a dandy rare 1970 reissue gem. It's her historic ten song musical blending with tenor sax giant Stan Getz. Just who would have thought? An accomplished actress/model also singing. Well the truth is Cybill was a singer first. She most clearly sings all the right notes here. Mr. Getz pushes her in all the right directions. Her program has "I Can't Get Started" (Gershwin/Duke) with its familiar verse. Cybill enthralls. "Please Don't Talk About Me When I'm Gone" (Clare/Stept) has her performing low down and dirty. Ace trombonist Frank Rosolino is afforded a chance to solo here. "Mad About the Boy" (Coward) was the original title of the album. Cybill convincingly focuses her attention to "I'm Old Fashioned" (Mercer/Kern). Throughout she is swingingly devastating. "It Never Entered My Mind" (Hart/Rodgers) is a joyous surprise. Cybill and Stan both turn in a flavourful innovative performance. "Speak Low" (Nash/Weil), as you would expect, is swung and it's a blast. "Do It Again" (DeSylva/Gershwin) is ear grabbingly beautiful. It's sung as a ballad. --Dan Singer, In Tune International, April 2009
