The wealth of settings of Ludwig Uhland's poems helps secure the "forgotton classics writer" a posterity far beyond his death (150th anniversary of his death). Independent from the question of wether one might consider a new assassment of his lyric output, Uhland will remain a permanent fixture of our collective cultural memory.
Andreas Reibenspies, bariton, and Eckart Sellheim, played on a fortepiano, manufactured in
1849 in Bösendorfer's workshop, recorded a few musical version of Uhland's poems. The selection includes both famous and less unknown works by e.g. Schubert, Schumann, Schoeck, Liszt, and Pfitzner.
