This is Don Thompson's debut solo piano recording. I hadn't really thought of that before, probably because I have had the pleasure of hearing Don play solo on countlerr occasions, including the many wonderful timeshe has been out summer guest at Qualicum. Don's playing is a natural fit for the solo format, his music resonates with the spirit of Bill Evans, Keith Jarrett, George Shearing, and Art tatum but is immediately identifiable as Don Thompson, which makes him one of tjose rare musicians to cultivate a unique musical personality. He is rightly considered a musical treasure, in Canada and around the world.
