With his third ZOHO release, alto saxophonist David Bixler continues to build his reputation as an urbane, highly accomplished bandleader and composer. Features 10 original compositions with long-term collaborators Scott Wendholt, John Hart, Ugonna Ugekwo, and Andy Wilson. David creatively pushes the envelope of contemporary, straight-ahead instrumental jazz with hard grooves, highly inventive compositions, and a solid sense of swing. Has toured with the orchestras of Tokishi Akiyoshi and Duke Ellington, and, since 1999, held the lead alto position in the Chico O’Farrill Afro- Cuban Jazz Orchestra. He frequently collaborates with ZOHO artist and Grammy® winner Arturo O’Farrill, performing at the famous Birdland.
