Rococo Cello Variations

This hybrid multichannel SACD from Praga features a collection of 'Rococo' variations for cello and piano. In works that span several centuries, cellist Jeremy Findlay is featured in a program of works rich with virtuosity, humor and inventiveness. Two variations by Beethoven based on themes by Mozart are juxtaposed against works by modern composers Jir+i Gemrot and Bohuslav Martinu based on themes by Beethoven, Dvorak and Rossini. Findlay is ably accompanied by pianist Per Rundberg in a disc that will appeal to any fan of cello music.
