Finale: Allegro vivace Berliner Philharmoniker / Herbert von Karajan P 1978/1996* Franz Schubert was born in Vienna in 1797 and although he died at the early age of 31 he was a tremendously prolific composer. He wrote some 600 songs, nine symphonies (including the famous ‘Unfinished’), much liturgical music, several operas, some incidental music, and a large body of chamber and solo piano music. His work was not widely appreciated during his lifetime, but interest in it increased dramatically in the decades following his death. Today, Schubert is admired as one of the leading exponents of the early Romantic era in music and he is now one of the most frequently performed composers. Price: $16.98 |
