These accolades become evident in this new box set from Deutsche Grammaphon featuring all his recordings of Beethoven. This budget-priced 13-CD set showcases Karajan and the Berlin Philhamonic through his late cycle of Beethoven's Symphonies, as well as all five piano concertos, the violin concerto with Anne-Sophie Mutter, the Missa Solemnis, and many other items that have been brought back into the catalog for this wonderful compilation. Also included in the booklet is a new essay by Karajan biographer Richard Osborne. All of these recordings have never been presented together in this fashion, but this set is a limited-edition item, and at it's amazing price, is a must have for any collection!
