Vol.31 of the Complete Mozart Edition.
This recording was made in Jan. 1979, and lasts 111' 17". It is a complete performance, conducted by Leopold Hager for "Mozart Week" in Salzburg, and becomes, de facto, a complete reference version, as is the norm for all Hager performances of Mozart's early operas. Hager deserves a medal from the Mozart fans' club. So this recording seems to memorialize the first time the opera was performed in its entirety since its composition. The opera was also staged during the 2006 Salzburg Festival, and recorded for the M22 DVD compilation of all Mozart's 22 operas by Deutsche Grammophon, the only such DVD available so far. The serenata "Il Sogno di Scipione" was written by Mozart most likely to celebrate the anniversary of the then current Archbishop Schrattenbach's tenure, or a similar event, towards the end of 1771.
