| Someone Elses Shoes Label: BRR Catalog: BR8925 Format: CD SWINGSET MAMAS; UNCLE BROTHERS; TROUBADOUR; FINK; MARXER; TETLE; HILL BROTHERS; COSIMA; HAPPY CROWD; BROZA; BARNETT; KEL My first go round with The Best Foot Forward Series latest installment, Someone Else’s Shoes, really blew my mind. Not only is the compilation completely stacked with outstanding performers whose every note is masterfully produced and sounds great on the album, but every song matters in the context of the album design.
If you didn’t know, this is a kids album. The album, as you may have guessed from the title, has a main theme that consists of seeing things from other’s perspectives, learning to understand and accept differences, and how everything we do effects the people around us. If were cruel people will end up walking away with hurt feelings or becoming angry and taking it out on someone else. It really is a well explored album that introduces kids to these idea’s and teaches them a thing or two all while giving them a fun and enjoyable audio experience.
Because the album is a compilation you can expect there to be a number of different styles on the album from the relaxing sound of country to the experimental likeness of The Beatles psychedelic rock. Regardless of what style of music is featured in any one song on the album all of it sounds fantastic. Reviewing kids music has introduced me to two worlds, one being a well meaning world where a mother or school teacher with limited musical skill will put together a collection of songs, the other being experienced musicians who perform passionately constructed tunes whose lyrical content has been meticulously put together with kid gloves. This album would be the latter. Amazing and well worth tracking down later in July to add to your child’s collection. © 2012 Shakefire.com
